As background, I volunteered during 1978/79 in Sudan under the auspices of AMREF. The suffering, death and total helplessness impacted me for a lifetime. I knew without a doubt that I would one day return to the continent that captured my heart.
I returned to Africa in Nov 2006 for five months to volunteer with orphans, street children and the impoverished. I witnessed suffering that no one - let alone a child - should have to endure.
