By donating to this project you will be contributing to the work of
"Our Village" and "Medic Malawi".
“Our Village” represents a network of volunteers who support community health projects in the village of Mtunthama, Malawi, Africa. We work closely with the Medic Malawi Charity in the UK who originally founded the clinic that you see on this site. With our partners at the Give Meaning Foundation we are able to offer tax deductible receipts to donors here in Canada and through these partnerships we have delivered over $115,000 in financial aid, medical supplies, and essential medicine to the people of Malawi.
There are about 510 primary health care facilities accessible to the general public in Malawi, each serving an average of about 15,500 persons. St.Andrews Hospital is one of them. It services a population of ~40,000.
Our Hope
Is to build a network of donors from around the world who are inspired to make a positive difference in one of the most destitute countries in the world—Malawi. We want to enable and empower the people of Mtunthama Malawi by providing them with the resources they need to create a vibrant and healthy community and achieve the targets of the Millennium Development Goals http://www.un.org/millenniumgoals/
Our Vision
Is to support community health initiatives that are driven by the people of Malawi—for the people of Malawi. By effectively leveraging donations and cooperating with other non-governmental organizations we will ensure that every dollar spent raising this village will be utilized to its fullest potential.
Our Future
We will help alleviate the suffering and powerlessness that exists as a result of poverty and disease by supporting the initiatives of St. Andrews Hospital which include:
HIV/AIDS
Nutrition
Clinical Health Services
