UPDATE: October 19, 2006 - June 13, 2007
It’s been about a year. Yeah. The weather was just like this last year when I came back from Montreal with something strange happening in my bone marrow. I sat in my oncologist’s office. This same oncologist diagnosed my breast cancer three years ago…well, four years now. Larry held my hand. THE GOOD NEWS: it’s not multiple myeloma! THE BAD NEWS: I have an incurable, indolent, and very rare lymphoma that I will die with…not from. Life is so strange sometimes. Larry and I were jumping for joy!! An incurable cancer but not a fatal cancer!! Yay!!!
That said, it’s been quite a ride. There were so many times I would attempt to update all of you, and then something would change and I would lose track of the story. My head has been spinning for this whole year…today is not different from yesterday….but for those who do not know me, this explanation is my introduction and to all the others, I will attempt to bring you up to speed.

Who is Babz Chula?
Babz is one of Canada’s most accomplished, versatile and daring actors; a veritable life-force in Vancouver’s acting community. She has received multiple awards and honours, and, as an ardent supporter of the independent film scene, she has contributed countless volunteer hours to many causes, including The Starry Nights Aids Benefit, Burnaby Youth Custody Facility, and The Centre for Integrated Healing.
Today, Babz faces a serious threat to her life, and she must embark immediately on an intensive treatment plan if she is to survive.
What This GivingGroup Will Do
This GivingGroup will help support Babz’s treatments, which, as a non-working actor, she cannot currently afford to fund herself. Babz must have chemotherapy, and she will continue with other, complementary treatments to sustain her immune system. The estimated total treatment time is 12-14 months.
Babz says: “The last thing in the world I want is chemotherapy. But I must have it. I have no more time. It is so not my thing, and yet, I’ve been told I risk very serious consequences if I do not start treatment by the end of this week. I feel like a walking time bomb.”
Babz’s treatment team consists of:
Oncologist, Dr Paul Klimo.
Naturopath, Dr Walter Lemmo, at The Centre for Integrated Healing.
Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Dr Catherine Cameron.
Colon hydro-therapist, Kevin Patrick at Vestta Whole Health.
General Practitioner, Dr Patricia Howitt at Reach Clinic.
Hemotologist, Dr. Jorge Denegri & Dr. Barrett Benny
