I strongly believe in the work that this group is doing. They are a grassroots ministry whose work with the Street Community, the homeless, lonely and discouraged, and living by a thin thread, gives encouragement, love, hope, hands that reach out to serve. In a society that measures success by possessions, education, and wealth, we have missed the mark! Our definition of success is not measured in these things, but in the helping and loving support of those, who through no fault of their own, need us and our support. By giving hope and love unconditionally and in spite of a person's circumstance, we capture the biggest success, and the only one by an act of giving, that we will ever have. The joy of reaching out, of holding someone in crisis, of uttering a simple, quiet prayer with a person in need, makes the difference in a world which can leave us all empty. In St. Francis' Prayer, he says "Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be loved as to love; for it is in giving that we receive; and it is pardoning that we are pardoned."
