We are a committed, passionate group of volunteers from all walks of life, who are dedicated to reaching out to those living on the streets in downtown Victoria. We offer fresh nutritious food (including 2 kinds of fruit), large whole grain peanut butter kaiser bun, a freshly baked pastry, granola bar, protein bars, as well as a beverage (hot chocolate complete with marshmallows in the winter and lemonade in the summer), juice, and yogurt. We also offer warm, clean clothing, blankets, sleeping bags, and personal hygiene packs. We have doggie food and fresh water.
We love to give encouragement, hugs, love, hugs,a listening/caring ear, hugs, and prayer if requested as well as did I say hugs - big ones and the more the better. We believe everyone, no matter what their circumstances, deserves dignity, respect, and love. We spend a lot of time chatting with our street family. We are very committted to making the lives of others a bit brighter if we can. We look after approximately 200 people every Friday night with lunch bags and clothing. We have the great privilege, and with our carts, to go right to where people in need are, doorways, streets, shelters, and walking though our route, many people know when and where we will be and they wait for us to come along.
Our ministry is one that embraces one of service to others, hands that help those in need, believing that the person we meet could so easily be ourselves or one of our own children. We love to share in the stories of many people, listening to their concerns, success (and there are many) or hurts and fears as well as needs. We help out anyone in anyway that we can. We walk through the streets pulling 6 garden carts (hence our name, CARTS ) laden with our gifts of love. We are a very wlecome sight to many people who know and love us in return. We are a totally God-dependent ministry, relying on donations of clothing, food, and finances. We love and value our work and the people within our street family. This is truly an amazing ministry of love and giving.
