El Hogar de Niños Emanuel (Emanuel's Home) is an orphanage located in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Founded in 1975, Hogar Emanuel has provided a safe, loving home to thousands of orphaned and abandoned children over the years.

Presently Hogar is home to 60 children ranging in ages between 2 to 18. The orphanage depends entirely on donations to cover operation costs. Hogar's children receive free medical and dental care from the Ruth Paz Clinic, adjacent to Hogar Emanuel, and all attend school at local public and private learning institutions.

The children are literally "rescued" from the sub-standard conditions of governmental orphanages that are terribly over populated, understaffed, and in some cases, unable to keep orphaned siblings together. Hogar Emanuel gives these children a second chance at a better life.

One of the orphanges' greatest challenges faced by our staff is providing constructive, creative ways for the children to spend their free time after having completed their individual responsibilities such as homework and chores .

To this end, the orphanage wants to build a playground at the orphanage. The playground will be complete with a sandbox area, swings, slides, etc. As I am volunteering part-time at this orphanage, I will ensure that all funds spent on this project go towards building this playground and do my best to post updates, pictures, etc once funds have been raised.

I, along with teachers and maintenance workers at the orphanage, will do the construction neccessary for the project.

Thanks for taking the time to read about this very worthy goal.
