Fieldstone Soup is inspired by the story of Stone Soup in its many variations.
Fieldstone Soup is a benefit dinner and auction to raise money for Fieldstone Community Farm Society. 5 local chefs will source (organic where possible)ingredients from local producers to create a 5 course feast. Local wines will be paired with the meal to create an extraordinary dining experience.
An auction of goods and services donated by community members will be done. The auction is a great opportunity to contribute to Fieldstone and to support local business.
The goal is to raise $10,000.00 plus expenses (projected at around $1300.00) for Fieldstone to create and distribute a communication package to landowners.
Through the communication package Fieldstone will partner with landowners in setting up the farm where Fieldstone will then run its program.
The Fieldstone program is to have people with developmental disabilities learn organic gardening, greenhouse and animal husbandry skills. Check out http://fieldstonecommunityfarm.org/index.htm for the Fieldstone story.
The opportunity of the farm is to create a safe place for people with developmental disabilities to be an integral part of a community, create friendships, and to contribute towards a greater good. When in this environment their abilities flourish and their true value becomes immeasurable.
Other opportunities are to keep local agricultural land producing, to grow organic farming practices benefiting soil, water & air quality. Local food production also takes us another step toward food security, and reduces greenhouse gas production thru reduced shipping.
