The funds raised through my GiveMeaning group will go directly to the funding of a new school in a rural village called Sega in the country of Ghana.

The only school in this village only accommodates classes up to 6th grade and even the 6th grade class must meet under the shade of a tree near the school.

It’s my dream and goal to help this school add classes up to 9th grade. Providing capacity to teach these three additional grades will have an enormous impact on both the 250 students currently enrolled at the school and future students in this impoverished village

A few years ago these children were destined to be farmers, with very unsteady incomes based on the weather and other harvests, but now they are developing other skills, learning how to read and communicate, and being given hope for their futures. If students are able to complete schooling to grade 9 in their own communities, many will have the opportunity to travel to other areas to go to high school (where students board) and some will even make it through university with a lot of hard work.

What This GivingGroup Will Do
Many of this village’s community members, most notably the parents of the students who have to work so hard to put their children through school are contributing everything they can to help build these additional classes but funds are needed to pay for the professional labor required to complete the roof and floor and to pay for the building materials.

During my time in Ghana, I asked my students what they would like to be when they grow up and they all have such big dreams! Some of their hopes are to become doctors, nurses, police officers, and pilots, as well as a variety of other professions. With relatively little money, we can impact an entire village’s next generation!


Confidence That Our Money Will Get There
I spent two months living with the head of the school and working as a teacher for the grade 4 class in this particular school and have complete trust that the money will be used wisely and will truly contribute to the futures of these children.

I intend to post digital pictures and stories to the GivingGroup as the school gets built, showing us all the power of our generosity.

I believe very strongly in this cause and know it has the potential to do such great things for the incredible children that touched my heart so much!
