Good Hope orphanage is a tiny orphanage located just outside of Arusha, Tanzania. It currently houses 12 children, most of whom have lost their parents to HIV or Aids. The orphanage founders, as well as the sponsors have high hopes of expanding the orphanage to make room for more children as well as improving quality of life for each child. However, currently the orphanage is without any running water and is constantly battling the day to day expenses of rent, food, clothing, etc. There are also goals of achieving better education for these children to learn and grow such as expanding the school, hiring more teachers, and being able to afford the materials needed. While there is much hope and hard work going into this orphanage, a lack of funds make these goals very difficult to achieve. We hope that by raising awareness, that this orphanage will get the attention it very much deserves and open your eyes and warm your hearts to being able to be apart of such a worthy cause.
Now that we are here at the orphanage we have spent some time deciding what is most needed here. We have already completed a water tower and pipelines to provide running water to Good Hope School. Our next goal is to buy a cow for the orphanage. There are 2 main reasons why this is important. First, the children do not recieve any milk in their daily diet. This is because milk is an extra expense that cannot be afforded. Secondly, Good Hope recieves zero income, other than what they get from volunteers. By buying a cow, they can sell several litres of milk a day to locals and recieve a small income.
It really is amazing how far money goes here. With a small donation you can help fund a project that can change the lives of these kids in so many ways. Everyday the kids eat only rice with a small side of meat or veggies, and water. But for only a small amount you can completely change their diets. For example, yesterday we spend $5 dollars and gotall 12 kids each 1 glass of milk and a plate full of fresh fruits and veggies. Simple foods like these that we get everyday is not available to these kids without our help. $10 or $20 dollars is not alot to us, but it can go sooo very far here in Africa! Why not make a small donation where you know your money is going somewhere great?
