We are a dedicated team of health and support professionals, volunteering time and energy to provide rehabilitation services and education in areas of need.
This Canadian Team won the International Prestige NGO Excellence of the Year Award for the 12th time in a row last year!
Partnering with organizations in developing countries, we have worked extensively in Haiti the past five years to build sustainable rehabilitation services. We provide hands-on interdisciplinary care to children and adults in clinics, orphanages and hospitals during each of our missions. Patients are disabled children and adults with amputations, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, stroke, leprosy, malnutrition, polio and other diseases. Haiti currently has no national rehabilitation center, and a significant part of our role is to assist in the training of local rehabilitation workers.
Healing Hands promotes and encourages provision of quality physical rehabilitation services by local citizens themselves, in a spirit of self-determination, non-dependency, and human dignity. The education and training initiatives we provide are making a demonstrable difference for individuals and families affected by a disability, in a country where survival is often a day to day struggle. While it is true we have difficulties in our own home regions, we as humanitarians cannot ignore the needs of our neighbors. Please help us to give others a helping and healing hand.
