Objective  35 laptops for educators in Haiti

Just a 90-minute flight from the US, Haiti, with a population of 9-million, is one of the poorest countries in the world. More than a third of their school age children never attend school, and those who do, receive a dismal education.

We invite you to help us equip 35 change agents from villages and cities throughout Haiti with laptops toward strengthening schools, literacy programs, and development initiatives that model a new approach to leadership and education.

The Haitians who will receive these laptops (view photos) are part of a thriving community of practice working to change the leadership and educational paradigm in Haiti. Corporal punishment is common in Haitian schools. The norm is rote-memorization teaching and dictatorial leadership, which dates back to their colonial past when hundreds of thousands of Africans were imported and enslaved by the French.

We recently received a grant for $180K to have 40 Haitians participate in a 3-year learning program. 35 of them do not have a computer.
