Souls in Stride and Little Feet have just returned from Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda and Zambia. Our hearts continue to be pulled by the vulnerability of women and children in Africa: such humble, courageous people living amongst violence, corruption and poverty.
Fistula is a tear between the vagina, bladder and/or rectum resulting in constant leakage. Following surgery women receive 3 months bed rest, literacy and skill training.
Rape is used as a weapon of war and often used to humiliate women and destroy communities. We feel is is vital to continue to support this aspect of the work at HEAL Africa.
In 2008, following a trip to DR Congo, Rwanda and Zambia Souls in Stride committed to providing support to Dani’s Home in Livingstone, Zambia, which provides food, shelter, medical attention and education to sexually abused gilrs in the community.
Little Feet focuses on education for children, building schools and supporting education initiatives in DR Congo and Rwanda.
Little Feet Projects for 2008-2009 are:
Tuungane School, Dr Congo - children's program that reaches out to street children in several communities, proviving them with learning activities, a safe place to play and counselling.
Yole Africa; youth centre promoting peace through art and culture in Dr Congo.
