Update for Homes-for -the-Helpless Project August 2010
Dear Donors:
Our Homes-for -the-Helpless project has successfully met its mandate for building houses for women and children in poverty in Brazil. Your contibution raised on this Givemeaning webpage is now redirected to building 100 houses for women who work in deplorable conditions in manioc flour factories in Feira Nova, a rural area near Recife, Brazil. My husband Mark and I recently returned from visiting the project and we want to report back to you.
We arrived first in Recife at the office of Habitat for Humanity International - Brazil (HHIB) where we were welcomed by the national director, volunteer co-ordinator and project manager of the Feira Nova project. They were very delighted with receiving the funds that will greatly assist in bringing their project closer to completion. We were impressed by the organization and the commitment of the staff we met whose work supports all the housing projects across Brazil.
