DESPERATE TIMES, DESPERATE MEASURES:
Basra is facing a crisis situation. Due to severe violence
in late-March, food, water, and medicine are all scarce.
And prices continue to drastically rise. They are now
unaffordable for most. For example:
- Tomatoes: Before - $0.21 per kilo. Now - $2.10 per kilo (increase: 1,000
- Cooking Gas: Before - $4 per cylinder. Now - $20 per cylinder (increase 500%)
- Two Dozen Eggs: Before - $5 per two dozen. Now - $10 per two dozen (increase 100%)
With the cost of everyday essentials now well beyond reach, the orphan children of Basra have no where to turn.
They need our immediate assistance.
Make a difference today – your donation will promptly go to help ease the recent crisis in Basra.
Help stop a humanitarian crisis. Help end the suffering.
"Food prices have at least doubled while those of other things have increased more than three times, with no bakeries and no fuel stations opened,"
- 40 year old Basra resident
