Help a friend of our family!!
Jerose is a 34 year old woman from Manila, a former classmate of my adopted daughter, Jonally. Diagnosed with leukemia last year, Jerose is in critical condition and she needs a bone marrow transplant NOW. Her parents send 90% of their incomes to pay for Jerose's medicine and doctors. Both are in their late 50's and work 2 jobs in hotels in Las Vegas (They entered the US legally under foreign worker program and became citizens. ) The hospital in Maryland will provide Jerose's transplant FREE - it is already approved.
Jerose had been receiving pre-op drugs free from a pharmaceutical company but her body rejected the chemicals and she had severe side effects. Now her spleen is enlarged and she is in worse condition. Her brother is a match for the bone marrow but she needs pre-op meds at $6000 a month (US) in order to be ready to accept the bone marrow. She took the meds for awhile in Manila but then stopped as she could not pay for them!!! Her parents are desperate and the money they send just covers the doctors and sustaining treatments for a less-effective drug. We need to raise at least one month of money for the pre-op drugs to get Jerose ready for the transplant .
As Jerose is not a US citizen, the family there can not access the usual social/charitable agencies. We live in Vancouver and would love to have her in our home to care for her but she does not have a Canadian visa. She does have a 10 year US Visa now as it was arranged under humanitarian reasons so she could have her transplant in Maryland.
Jerose was working in Hong Kong but had to return to Manila when her leukemia was diagnosed and she could not work any longer. This is a wonderful person who cares for handicapped children when she is healthy. She has no children of her own. Her parents are hardworking and are making unbelievable sacrifices to try to save their daughter's life. My husband,Serge, and I personally met with them in Nevada last weekend. We have seen their receipts for money transfers and the communication with the transplant team. Jerose' mother broke down several times as she gave us an update on Jerose and she is exhausted! She can not even buy her own medicine for migraines as she needs every cent for Jerose. By the time our visit was over, we had all been in tears and I made a promise to her to help in any way I can. This website has done miracles for another woman I personally know here in Vancouver so I know that it will help Jerose as well.
PLEASE HELP US RAISE $6,000 IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS as Jerose's time is running out.
The surgery will save her! We have sent photocopies of Jerose medical status, diagnosis and surgery approval to Givemeaning so they have all the proof, facts, sources on hand to validate all costs. They have the diagnosis, updated status, reason (lack of funds is stated on doctor's letter) for not using appropriate meds, and need/approval for transplant.
This website exists on grants and separate donations. As the fund for Jerose is not a registered, tax-donation-approved national charity, all your donations will get received by GiveMeaning and then sent DIRECTLY to the Clinic or hospital to pay for the treatment. There is no way for any fraud or presonal interception of funds raised for Jerose. That is why we use it. It is established, secure, legitimate and we will get 95% of funds transferred directly to Jerose.
**Update: Jerose is now in Nevada with her parents. She is getting very frail. Her parents' coworkers donated $1000 for her meds and that will certainly help. We need you too!
