Willing Hearts International Society of Canada (WHISCA) is currently fundraising for a trades school on the site of the Lugari Community Resource Centre (LCRC) in western Kenya.
LCRC was founded in 2008 in Lugari District of western Kenya and merged with WHISCA in 2009 to provide the local community with access to information and to develop a range of programs and sustainable models for alleviating poverty within the region by creating a highly effective environment for delivering social and economic interventions

The first focus of the school will be to provide training in tailoring skills to local men and women. On site tailors will make school uniforms for the local school children, as well as sew reusable menstrual pads for local girls affected by menstrual-related absenteeism.

Locals developing skills leads to empowerment, enterprise, ownership, and success for the community.

Our current goal is to purchase 5 power-operated and 5 manual sewing machines, as well as materials (thread, cloth, buttons).

For more information on WHISCA and its other projects at the LCRC, please visit www.whisca.org.

We thank you for your generosity and support!
