Keeping the Lights On:
Threshold Housing Society (THS) provides long-term transitional housing for youth at risk of homelessness.
Threshold receives about 40% of its funding from the Ministry of Children and Families, and the other 60% from Anglican Churches, BC Housing, Telus, Thrifty Foods, and individual donors.
Our current financial goal is to raise $15 800, by the end of March 2008, for our most basic operational expenses (specifically: utilities, household supplies, minor repairs, and household maintenance) - Making sure there are light bulbs in our two houses for 2007-2008.
Threshold offers safe, supportive, semi-independent housing for youth aged 16 to 21. We currently accommodate 8 youth at a time.
Our staff provide a listening ear at the end of the day, refer youth to community resources, provide crisis intervention, and help negotiate conflicts when necessary. Our housing program provides the stability required for school completion, training program attendance, and securing employment.
We're working hard to keep the lights on for another year and for the youth still to come through our doors.
Thank you for your time and attention in considering Threshold.
Warmly,
Marion Little
