Everyone has a Purpose -

After moving back home from the USA I worked for Saint Leonard's Society of Nova Scotia (and continue to do so casually). More specifically, I worked at Metro Turning Point - an 80 bed shelter for homeless men on Barrington Street in Halifax.

I can attest that my eyes have been opened. I will no longer turn a blind eye or judge on appearances. Everyone has a purpose and more importantly everyone has a story.

These men have unknowingly enriched my life. We are all just a few short pay cheques away from being homeless. When I walk down the streets of Halifax it is these men that greet me with an enthusiastic hello and a smile in their eyes. To most they are just beggars but once you have the opportunity to get to know them you see they are truly people from all walks of life with such a variety of life experiences.

It is because of this experience I have committed to raise money for Saint Leonard's Society of Nova Scotia - a not for profit organization.

I need your help!! I cannot do this alone and together we can make a difference in people's lives and give them the opportunities we have been afforded.

I ask you to keep an open mind and an open heart...

I will keep you posted on my journey and commitment to swim 5km a day for 5 days - in open water - for this great cause.

All procceds go directly to Saint Leonards!!! Let's Get 'Er Done!!

Thanks so much and remember to Live, Love, Laugh - and Donate!! Please spread the word and invite your friends!!

Feel free to browse Saint Leonard's Society of Nova Scotia's homepage and learn more - http://www.saintleonards.com

Big Squeeze to you all,
Shannon
