Dogwood Initiative’s No Tankers team will engage in an innovative and interactive public education campaign. Over the next few weeks we will contact citizens to discuss the direct connection between choices made in this federal election, global warming, the environment, and the British Columbian coastline. Through this project we will inform local communities of the very real threat of oil tankers on the British Columbian coast, and provide them with information on how we can collectively stop this from happening. Through targeted education we can help ensure that the candidates we elect share the same values as over 80% of British Columbians who support a legislated ban on tanker traffic in our northern waters.

Our strategy will involve contacting citizens over the phone, providing information, as well as other ways to get involved with the No Tankers team. We will purchase strategic advertisements in local newspapers to ensure the environment, global warming, and the BC coast are top of mind issues when British Columbians go to the polls. We will follow up with a second phone call closer to the election date which will provide voters with the opportunity to discuss these critical issues with our No Tankers team.
