Aim:
To construct health facility to provide basic medical services and a clean environment. This will include a 20 – bed ward, an operating room,and administrative block.
Problem:
The local villagers have difficulties explaining their illness clearly:
In Onura Buma the majority of villagers are uneducated and cannot read either in Arabic or English.
Risks for pregnant women and infants:
According to medical Assistant on the average three to four infants are dead upon delivery and 15 women dies due to childbirth related issues.
Expense:
When villagers go to hospitals in town they have to pay £50 as a registration fee for getting treatment which is above their means leave alone buying medicines - they can not afford.
Waste:
If villagers go to hospitals in the town they need at least 4 days to and from Magwi health Unit and 8 days to and from (Torit) State hospital. The journey is footing as this is only means they have.
Benefit:
Easy to communicate:
well equipped health facility in the community will make it easier for the villagers to explain what kind of sickness they have to medical staff.
Reduce the risk rate for pregnant women:
with modern health care facility then pregnant women and their babies in the community will face fewer risks.
Save money:
when health facility is stock with modern equipments then villagers don’t need to spend money on transport to far away hospitals.
