Peace Matunda Orphanage and Children's Centre is a project started in 2000 to provide orphans and children living in difficult conditions with basic education, proper housing, adequate health care and nutrition along with daily necessities to ensure them a better quality of life and prosperous future. Peace Matunda is located in Kimundo village, Tanzania, Africa. It was initiated by Unambwe Zephania Kaaya, born and raised in the area based on the difficulty he saw facing the local people.
The school was established for the benefit of local children and orphans who could not otherwise afford to attend public schools. There are currently approximately 160 students enrolled, aged 3-11, and the school continues to grow. At the moment, the school offers a Baby Class, Kindergarten, Standard 1, and Standard 2. However, over the past few years as the project has grown, so too has its need to expand. In order for the children to complete their primary school education with Peace Matunda, we will require several additions. Five more classrooms, an office, a dining room, and a study hall / library will be needed.
In order to achieve this goal, we are seeking funds to continue the expansion of the Peace Matunda Orphanage and School. This will be the second round of fundraising through GiveMeaning (visit http://www.givemeaning.com/project/matunda for details on the completed project). Our hope is to begin by building a strong foundation that would allow for the construction of a multi-storey facility. From there we will be able to gradually establish a new 8 room structure that will help provide a future for our children.
