Project Africa’s MISSION STATEMENT: ‘Utilizing a hands on approach to empower communities affected by HIV/AIDS & Poverty.’
With this in mind we plan to help a Community fight the many social stigmas plaguing girls and women in Kenyan communities. These include issues such as HIV/AIDS, orphans, childhood marriages, Female circumcision (FGM), mental & physical challenges, hearing & visually impaired disabilities and sexually & physically abused girls.
Our project partner in Kenya is a community based school that caters for girls with special needs aged between 10 - 30 years of age. The Zabibu Centre's mission statement 'providing quality training to girls with special needs". The centre's goal is to provide a nurturing environment for marginalised girls & women.
The Zabibu Centre acheives their goals by providing training, care and support to the girls & women with special needs and ensures their successful transition into society. Furthermore the centre enhances awareness for people with special needs by addressing the associated stigmas at the local community and national levels.
The funds raised will be used by the Zabibu Center for the construction of a wheelchair accessible walkway throughout the entire school. The walkway will connect the classrooms, dormitories, dining hall, meditation gardens and vocational training rooms. Other funds will be used to purchase necessary equipment such as wheelchairs and tools for the vocational training classes.
