We have helped 51 babies, who had been abandoned or surrendered, to find new permanent families in Bacolod City, Philippines.  Each of these families has either adopted, or is proceeding to adopt its newest family member.  We are NOT involved with international adoptions.

Sister Families (www.sisterfamilies.ca) contracts with professional social workers in the Philippines to match abandoned or surrendered babies with families living in that country.  Our social workers conduct home studies, and manage the governmental licensing process. They also assist in the subsequent adoption process, and thus help create a new permanent home for the baby, as well as a new family for the Philippine parents.

The program in Bacolod City has been very successful, and we are now planning to extend it into other areas throughout the country, either directly, or by supporting innovative change by government agencies and/or non-governmental organizations.

One of our partners is Mom's Radio, a commercial radio network of eight stations, providing information to mothers throughout the Philippines on subjects such as child care, nutrition, education, health, and...now...adoptions!

Program funding is a 'one-time' expense.  The child's new family takes on responsibility for all legal and care costs related to their newest family member

Our costs are about $Cdn175 (PhP9000, or $US175) per placement. These costs include all professional social work expenses, and all administrative and advocacy costs. All management and governance is voluntary, and any necessary transportation costs have been borne by directors of the Society personally.
