The project, “Improving Livelihoods and Promoting Good Health with Moringa” envisages to promote the cultivation, processing and consumption of Moringa in the Hohoe and Jasikan Districts of Ghana. The project shall enhance the quality of life of the people, create employment, increase food production and reduce malnutrition and raise the general standard of living in the communities.
All indications are that Moringa offers a great potential benefit for the economy, especially as its production and use could create employment and wealth and help reduce the health burden and poverty in Ghana. Shape Lives Foundation considers Moringa as the “Green Gold” of Ghana and believes that an adequate production and consumption of Moringa products in Ghana could to a large extent contribute substantially to addressing the country’s nutrition, health and employment needs. Under this project, a Moringa cottage industry shall be established for processing moringa into various products like leaf powder, oil and seed cake for local consumption and export. The communities shall also be enlightened on scientifically supported discoveries about Moringa in order to harmonize traditional habits of using Moringa with new ways of maximizing derivable benefits from the Miracle tree- Moringa.
