PROJECT JUSTIFICATION
The Buduburam Refugee Settlement is a community identified by the Government of Ghana in the early 90s to keep refugees from Liberia in wake of its intense fighting. To date, an estimate of 21,000 refugees still live in the settlement.
Compare to the early days where United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) catered for the wellbeing in terms provision of food, medical care, educational aid etc, it is no longer providing these services to the refugees. Refugee continues living in the settlement is therefore self sponsoring as far as their survival is concern.
Hundred of children continue to move about in the settlement aimlessly as they either some one to neither provide effective counseling nor take care of education and living condition.
The Government of Liberia is urging its citizens to return home.
