What I'm Doing (wahoo!):
On May 31st along with 24 other young riders, I'm embarking on an epic Pacific cycling marathon: 3000 km in 7 weeks along the west coast of North America from Vancouver, Canada to Tijuana, Mexico raising awareness and funds to end world poverty.
WHY?!
Simply put: I like to cycle and I'd kinda like to try and save the world somehow...Maybe I'm idealistic, I'm definitely crazy BUT through your sponsorship (big $, small $- every cent helps!), I am hoping to raise $3000 to go towards sustainable, trust-based microcredit loans in the developing world. With the youth-founded, youth-led organisation Agents of Change, every single cent of what we fundraise will go directly towards a lending fund for impoverished enterpreneurs unable to obtain credit through traditional means.
A microcredit loan provides the opportunity for people to help themselves and their communities at the most local of levels. The success rate of paying back these types of loans has been 97% so far and once a loan is paid back, the money goes to someone else. The impact is exponential and far-reaching.
Where do you come in?
With your financial support, you will be:
a) helping me reach my personal goal of $3000 so the 3000km I'm going to bike isn't just a sightseeing expedition in vain...
b) most importantly, enabling others to raise themselves from poverty. You will be taking action against the economic injustice that is taking place everywhere today by releasing those in need from the cycle of poverty they're families have been living in for generations. Yes, just from your donation!
