After spending the past five years of my life in the Electrical Engineering Co-op program at UBC, I'm ready for something a little different.  To celebrate my graduation, I'm biking from Vancouver, Canada to Tijuana, Mexico (3000 km) over 5 weeks starting May 3rd, 2007.  Altogether, the 22 riders (and all of our friends helping along the way) have set a goal of raising a $1,000,000 microcredit fund that will be lent out to help thousands of individuals running small businesses in developing countries.

Microcredit loans are small in monetary value, but big on impact.  These folks aren't able to get loans from big banks, and your donations will help them buy the things they need to make their business successful and support their families.  Our organization will be lending out to a hunge number of individuals, and then re-lending the money to more people in need once it is paid back.  Although there is no collateral for these loans, they have had a huge success rate.  Grameen Bank in Bangladesh, who's founder, Muhammad Yunus won the Nobel Peace Prize (2006), has had a 98% recovery rate to date.
